ZEBRA teams up with ROBOTEX CYPRUS 2026 as bronze sponsor

30/6/2026

The Robotex Cyprus 2026 robotics competition returned on 27–28 June 2026 at the University of Cyprus Sports Centre, bringing together students, educators, and robotics enthusiasts from across the island for a weekend dedicated to innovation, creativity, and STEAM education.

Organised by the Cyprus Computer Society (CCS), the event is the 9th Pancyprian Educational and Athletic Robotics Competition and continues to be recognised as Cyprus’s leading robotics festival. It is part of the international Robotex network, which connects national robotics competitions across multiple countries and leads to the global Robotex International final.

This year’s competition gathered approximately 700 participants, including primary and secondary school students, university teams, and adults. Competitors took part in more than 20 robotics challenges, covering areas such as programming, engineering design, automation, and problem-solving.

The programme included a wide range of events such as line-following challenges, maze-solving, folkrace races, sumo robot battles, and drone competitions. For the first time, visitors also experienced expanded STEAM-focused activities involving drones, space-themed exhibits, and artificial intelligence demonstrations, highlighting the growing role of emerging technologies in education.

A key feature of this year’s event was the introduction of new and expanded drone activities, including autonomous flight challenges and programming-based competitions. In addition, interactive experiences such as drone soccer, human versus robot chess, virtual reality activities, and 3D printing demonstrations were available throughout the two-day festival.

Special emphasis was also placed on educational engagement. Primary school teams presented robotics projects under the theme “Sustainable Development – Green Island,” proposing innovative solutions to environmental and social challenges. The event also included established categories such as Girls Firefighting, aimed at encouraging greater participation of girls in STEAM fields.

Robotex Cyprus 2026 also hosted a range of technology showcases and partner activities, featuring demonstrations of locally developed robotics technology and interactive educational exhibits.

The competition is supported by a wide network of partners from academia, industry, and the public sector, with ZEBRA participating as a Bronze Sponsor of the event. Through its support, ZEBRA reinforces its commitment to empowering the next generation of innovators by contributing to the educational experiences of young participants and encouraging their interest in robotics, technology, innovation, and STEAM disciplines.

Robotex Cyprus continues to serve as both a competition and an educational platform, offering students the opportunity to develop technical skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities while engaging with real-world applications of robotics and artificial intelligence.

As the 2026 edition concludes, the event further strengthens its position as a key driver of STEM education in Cyprus and a gateway for young participants to the international robotics stage.
