From AI experimentation to enterprise transformation

A key highlight of the Summit was the participation of George Christodoulou, in the panel discussion “Beyond Experimentation: AI-Based Operating Models & Enterprise Transformation.”

The discussion explored the critical steps organizations must take to move AI beyond experimentation and into sustainable business transformation from successfully scaling AI initiatives.

George highlighted the growing adoption of AI by Cypriot companies and the challenges they face.  The biggest barriers are organisational rather than technological. Companies need a clear AI strategy, the right skills and talent, better data and integration, modernised legacy systems, and, most importantly, a culture willing to change.

A strong focus was placed on AI Governance, highlighting the need for responsible adoption supported by security, privacy, transparency, human oversight, accountability and compliance. AI governance cannot sit with IT alone. It needs business leadership, technology, risk, compliance and data expertise working together, with clear ownership for every AI use case. The fundamental principle is that AI can support or recommend a decision, but the organisation remains accountable for the outcome.

George also expanded on the benefits of AI by asking ‘’Is it only about productivity?’’ Productivity is the starting point, not the end goal. AI can reduce costs and automate work, but its bigger strategic value is in improving decisions, customer experience, innovation and creating new products, services and revenue streams. The real question for leadership is: “What can our organisation do with AI that it could not do before?” That is where AI moves from being another technology tool to becoming a strategic capability embedded in the business.

One of the key messages emerging from today's technology landscape is that digital transformation is no longer simply about adopting new technologies. It is about creating organizations that are more intelligent, agile, secure and prepared for continuous change.
