The leading Banking Forum & FinTech Expo was well-organised by IMH at the Hilton Nicosia Hotel on the 8th of December 2021. As formerly known, the annual Cyprus Banking Forum brought together not only professionals from the local banking sector but also from different industries and sectors in Cyprus and abroad. It is commonly believed that as time passes by, the regulatory landscape between the traditional and digital banks will come even closer and eventually merge. The questions raised and answered through the discussion panel was about the timing that this is expected to happen, and what will be the consequences when it does. On another thing, it is also recognised that Banks are putting massive effort (and resources) into digitalization, but what does this mean regarding their other obligations such as reporting, KYC procedures, even capital requirements? Is the necessary balance in place?
